Careful with mouthwash used to overcome bad breath. Long-term of using mouthwash can risk of mouth cancer.

We all agreed if the mouthwash is recommended to treat infections and inflammation of the mouth. But its use in the long term risk of cancer of the mouth was.

Based on the research it said that too often use mouthwash, especially those alcohol based can increase the risk of mouth cancer up to nine times.

The research team comprised of dentists said that, although some types of mouthwash can help prevent dental plaque and gingivitis, but should not be used for the long term.

They recommend that mouthwash is used as an additional or complementary of dental health care major is like brushing and using dental floss.

Researchers also warned that the risk of mouth cancer will be more impact on those who have unhealthy lifestyles. Mentioned research results, among those who use drugs of alcohol-based mouthwash, mouth cancer risk will increase to nine times in those smokers.

For them drinking alcohol, the risk would increase to five times. As for mouthwash users who are not drinkers and smokers, the risk is just under five times the number.

“Long-term use of mouthwash containing ethanol plant material should be avoided, given the recent evidence mentions the possibility of this material is related to the risk of mouth cancer,” the researchers wrote in their journal, as quoted by AP.

Research has found that mouthwash is available in the market today contain alcohol to 26%. In fact, the type of mouthwash with alcohol concentration of more than 20% have more harmful effects, including inflammatory disease can cause gums, red spots on the mouth, called petechiae, and release of cells in the mouth wall.
